The mythical Volkswagen bug or beetle (type 1) was produced between 1938 and 2003, first in Europe, then in Brazil and finally in South Africa and Mexico.

There were 21 529 464 bugs sold, so that beats everything.

Over the years, the main change is the rear window shape. We can distinguish the “split bug” (until 1953), the “oval bug” (between 1953 and 1957) and the others bugs with a rectangular rear window.
